Surrey County Council leader David Hodge today announced a new Cabinet member.

Linda Kemeny has been selected for the role of Cabinet Member for Children and Learning.

Mr Hodge said: “I’m delighted to welcome Linda Kemeny to the county council Cabinet. I believe she will be a great asset.

Mrs Kemeny said: “I am extremely pleased to have been given this opportunity. I am looking forward to the challenges it will bring.”

Before becoming a councillor last year, she was Financing Strategy Director of RWE Thames Water, Group Treasurer of Thames Water and Assistant Group Treasurer at Costain Group.

Her other roles include working as a consultant on water projects for the Department for International Development.

Mrs Kemery chaired the Woking branch of the Alzheimer’s Society and helped it to win the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2009. She is a trustee of the Woking Association of Voluntary Service.

She takes over the Cabinet role from Tim Hall.
