Nearly 300 firms register on website to win council contracts

Peter Martin

Nearly 300 firms have registered in under a month for a new website designed to help them win council contracts.

BuildSurrey was created as part of Surrey County Council’s pledge to ensure 60% of its spending on goods and services is with local businesses.

The website – which can be found at www.buildsurrey.net – lets firms pitch for construction and building repair work that the council and its main contractors need doing.

Already 290 firms have signed up after businesses attended an event designed to help them to register following the site’s launch, get advice about winning contracts and find out more about work in the pipeline.

Surrey County Council’s deputy leader Peter Martin said: “We’re committed to taking an active role in supporting Surrey’s economy, helping it to grow and generate more jobs.

“There can be no better way for us to help local firms thrive than by putting money in their bank accounts through the BuildSurrey website.”
