VIDEO: Earliest recorded reference to baseball features Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales played baseball in Ashley Park in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, in 1749, it has emerged.

That is six years before William Bray described playing the game near Guildford in Surrey in a handwritten diary entry that has been verified as the earliest known manuscript reference to the game in the world.

The latest discovery was made by American researcher and author David Block with the help of Surrey County Council’s Julian Pooley. To find out how they pinpointed the location of the royal baseball game, watch the video below. Feel free to embed it.
