DECEMBER 24: The Environment Agency has issued a severe weather warning for the Leatherhead and Fetcham areas after storms raised river levels.

Mole Valley District Council set up a temporary rest centre in Leatherhead to help residents evacuated as a result of flooding on the River Mole. For more information, visit the Mole Valley District Council website. Residents have also been evacuated in Godalming and Guildford.

For the latest on the weather and river flooding, visit the Met Office and Environment Agency websites. To contact the Environment Agency’s floodline, call 08459 881188. To report a power cut, contact UK Power Networks on 0800 783 8866.

Drivers and residents can keep updated on general safety tips via the county council’s website and on local travel updates via the Surrey Travel Twitter feed. The county council has also been helping out with clearing roads and removing fallen trees.

People are being urged to use extreme caution when out and about, and to check on any vulnerable neighbours they think may need help. For more information on adult social care, visit the county council’s website.
