Surrey County Council’s adoption service has been rated ‘good’ by independent inspections.
The council’s adoption service was inspected by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) in June.
Cabinet Member for Children and Families Mary Angell said: “This inspection has confirmed that we have an adoption service that is performing strongly. It shows that the work we do to help children who have been adopted reach their full potential is outstanding and that the rest of the support we provide is good.
“In particular, the inspection highlights the excellent help we give adopted children at school, the thorough training given to staff and families who adopt and the excellent work done to meet the needs of people from all backgrounds. It also highlights the effort that goes into matching children with the right adopters and strong and effective leadership.
“However, we won’t be resting on our laurels and we will use this as a springboard for making further improvements, which the inspection report makes clear we continually look to achieve.”
