Deputy leader Peter Martin at a meeting with Jeremy Hunt to discuss Surrey's superfast broadband plans
Surrey County Council is reminding the broadband industry time is running out to take part in a consultation as part of the authority’s plans for a superfast service.
Private sector businesses are being asked to outline their plans over the next three years for high-quality broadband. The aim is to confirm the picture the council has built up on their investment in Surrey remains accurate.
Surrey will select a company within months to provide the superfast broadband infrastructure not included in BT and Virgin Media’s plans nationally. Current council data shows that will include up to 20% of Surrey businesses and residents – around 100,000 premises.
More information and details of how to take part in the consultation can be found at http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/broadbandconsultation. The consultation closes at 5pm on 10 April.
