County Hall fell silent today at a ceremony to honour those who sacrificed their lives for their country.
Chairman Lavinia Sealy led a wreath-laying ceremony at Surrey County Council’s headquarters following a minute’s silence to remember those who have fallen.
Mrs Sealy said: “It remains as important as ever to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we could enjoy the freedoms that we do today.
“I feel extremely honoured to be paying tribute to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces. We must never allow them to be forgotten.”
Surrey leader David Hodge, deputy leader Peter Martin and chief executive David McNulty were among those who attended the ceremony.
Remembrance Day is on Sunday, with services and ceremonies being held across the county.
