Community support for Surrey carers

As part of National Carers’ Week, there will be a carer information day at Elmbridge Civic Centre in Esher on Monday, 9 June from 11am to 3pm.

Held in conjunction with Carer Support Elmbridge in the centre’s reception area, the event will showcase the wide range of local community organisations available to help people with caring roles.

Surrey County Council social care staff will be on hand at a Choice Unlimited event on Thursday, 19 June at Epsom Downs racecourse to offer advice about independent living.

The free event, hosted by the Surrey Independent Living Council, is aimed at disabled people, older people and carers in Surrey, showcasing what is available locally to support independent living.

There will be a number of workshops, entertainment and activities, with exhibitors covering:

• education, training and employment
• health
• transport
• leisure and wellbeing
• products and equipment
• care and support.
