The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have visited Surrey to meet with the staff, agencies and volunteers who helped residents during the December and January floods.
Surrey County Council Chairman David Munro, who was also present during the visit, said: “Our staff, firefighters and volunteers worked flat out to help more than 1,000 households during the flooding, and it has been a real privilege to show the Duke and Duchess how everyone worked together to get Surrey back on its feet.
“Our long-term flooding focus is now on prevention, which is why we’re working with Government on plans to protect Surrey residents in future.”
