Reading volunteers thanked
More than 230 young volunteers have been thanked for helping to get children reading more with the help of author Anna McKerrow.
The writer, who spoke about her latest novel Crow Moon, recognised the volunteers’ efforts during this year’s Summer Reading Challenge at Surrey County Council’s Woking Library.
The volunteers encouraged children to take part in the challenge, gave them incentives and rewards, talked to them about the books they chose to read and helped them with events and activities.

Find out your local heritage
An event exploring Surrey’s past will take place next month featuring experts in conservation, archives and archaeological finds from Surrey County Council’s heritage team.
They will be handing out advice about how to store and preserve items as part of the 3 October event, which focuses on Shere and the surrounding area.
