VIDEO: Cabinet agree to implement the Making Surrey Safer Plan

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet today agreed to implement the proposals in Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s Making Surrey Safer Plan.

When introducing the paper Tim Oliver the Leader of Surrey County Council said “The intention of this plan is to modernise the service and make it fit for purpose for the next 20 years, reflecting all of the new challenges and demographic changes that we see throughout this county.

“We are not cutting funding indeed the savings proposed in 18/19 and 19/20 have been withdrawn, there is no plan to cut the funding and we are not reducing the number of firefighters in the county. In fact, we’re proposing to invest an extra £1m in capital as well as step up the recruitment of extra firefighters which is already well underway.
