New website launched to support Surrey carers with end of life care

A new resource brings together a wealth of information for unpaid carers who are seeking guidance on how to make decisions about end of life care.

Caring to the End is a guide to end of life care and beyond for unpaid carers in Surrey. It has been produced by a multi-agency group of professional practitioners from the health and social care sectors, hospices, and voluntary sector providers. The group worked with carers and former carers who had experience of end of life care and they were instrumental in the scope and design of the website and assisting with specialist content.

The Caring to the End website provides a single point of access resource for practical, legal and financial information for carers who are caring or who have just lost a loved one, as well as advice on coping with grief and where to go for support after caring. It also includes specific information targeted towards young carers and parent carers.

Alison Griffiths, Surrey County Council’s Deputy Cabinet Member for Health and the Cabinet’s Carers’ Champion, said: “I’m pleased to be launching with our partners this new resource for Surrey’s carers. The website will bring together key information all in one place to support our carers at a difficult time in their lives. Our carers do a fantastic job and this is another way we can support them in their caring role.

“The new website provides so much practical and supportive information which I know our carers will benefit from. I would encourage all of our Surrey carers seeking guidance to make good use of this new resource.”
