Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has appointed Jon Simpson as its new permanent Assistant Chief Fire Officer – Service Delivery.
Jon joined Surrey Fire and Rescue Service on secondment as Assistant Chief Fire Officer in August last year. He joined from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service where he served from 1993.
During Jon’s extensive career Jon has undertaken various roles including Head of Training, Head of Response and Head of Strategic Risk and Improvement.
Jon said: “I am truly honoured to be offered the opportunity to serve the people of Surrey and my colleagues as permanent Assistant Chief Fire Officer – Service Delivery. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a committed team and I’ve been made to feel very welcome. I’m excited for the future of Surrey Fire and Rescue service as we continue to serve the needs of our community and make further progress in our Cultural Improvement Journey.”
Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Dan Quin said: “I am thrilled to see Jon take on this position permanently. He has already made a huge contribution to our service since joining last year. Jon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. I know Jon shares our commitment to making Surrey one of the best fire and rescue services in the industry.”
Leader of Surrey County Council, Tim Oliver said: “I’m pleased to welcome Jon as Assistant Chief Fire Officer – Service Delivery. After a very positive spell supporting the CFO and Service Leadership Team, Jon was clearly a very strong candidate for the job. He has proved himself a great example of leadership and role models the behaviours SFRS strives for as it continues its improvement journey.”
Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Protection, Denise Turner-Stewart said: “I know this news will be very well received across Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and Surrey County Council. Jon is a much-respected colleague. He has been an incredible asset since joining SFRS last year and has clearly demonstrated his commitment to the service and his colleagues during a time of transformation.”
Chief Executive of Surrey County Council, Joanna Killian said: “I am pleased to appoint Jon as our new permanent Assistant Chief Fire Officer – Service Delivery. Jon has already made a significant contribution to SFRS, not least supporting our recent inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.”
