Have your say: Redevelopment proposal for Reigate Fire Station

Surrey County Council (SCC) is redeveloping Reigate Fire Station and they’re asking local residents to have their say on proposals.

The proposal involves a redevelopment of the current fire station, providing the following benefits:

  • larger appliance bays to accommodate the new generation of fire appliance;
  • improved parking facilities;
  • better gym facilities;
  • solar panels;
  • electric vehicle charging;
  • heat source pumps;
  • improved facilities for South East Coast Ambulance Service who co-locate at the site.

Local residents are being invited to the station on Wednesday 21 June, 4pm–7.30pm and Thursday 22 June, 12.30pm–4pm to hear more about the investments and ask questions.

Chief Fire Officer of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Dan Quin, said: “The proposals set out a number of ways we can redevelop Reigate Fire Station to serve our communities better. This is another fantastic inject of investment from our fire and rescue authority, Surrey County Council, following investment in Chobham and Lingfield Fire Stations earlier this year.”

SCC’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Safety (which includes SFRS), Denise Turner Stewart, added: “We are absolutely committed to investing in our fire stations and we are very grateful to the teams and the crews who have been heavily involved in developing these proposals.  I would strongly encourage residents to take part and provide their feedback.”

SCC’s Cabinet Member for Property and Waste, Natalie Bramhall, also added: “Thank you to all teams involved for designing these plans, aiming to provide a fire station that can sit at the heart of the community and be a fit for the future workplace. Please take time to have your say.”

The aim is to begin construction in Spring 2024 and completion in mid-2025. More details of the proposals, as well as an opportunity to provide feedback online will be available from Wednesday 21 June 2023: http://www.surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/reigate-fire-station-consultation

This consultation is purely for the redevelopment of the fire station, not the whole Wray Park site which is home to SFRS’s training facility, workshops and more.
