Surrey Fire and Rescue Service welcomes new recruits

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) welcomed 23 new recruits into the service at their Pass Out Parade on Sunday (20 August).

The new Firefighters and Joint Fire Control Operators were joined by family and friends for the special occasion which was held at SFRS headquarters in Reigate.

The new recruits were presented with their certificates and welcomed to the service by Chief Fire Officer, Dan Quin who said: “This is an extremely joyous moment for all involved.

Over many months, our new team members have undertaken a vast amount of learning and assessment. I’d like to say a huge congratulations to them on achieving this significant milestone in their new careers.”

The High Sheriff of Surrey, Tim Wates who also attended the event, added: “Surrey is very fortunate to have such an excellent Fire and Rescue Service and I send my heartfelt congratulations to all the new recruits. I hope you are enormously proud of what you have already achieved and know you will go on to do much more in your roles within the service.”

Firefighter Ben Luxmoore was presented with the Silver Axe Award as the highest achieving recruit during training.
