Pre-Planning Application Consultation for the new Staines Library and Community Hub 12 September 2023

Everyone is invited to come and have their say on the plans for the new Staines Library on 12 September 2023 at Staines Library, Friends Walk, TW18 4PG between 2pm and 7.30pm.

Surrey County Council is proposing plans for investing in the relocation of the library to create a new community hub including Citizens Advice, Spelthorne Museum and Voluntary Support North Surrey together at the former Decathlon unit in the Elmsleigh Centre.  It will also include lettable space for a range of uses.

This work is part of the Library Transformation programme which began in 2019, when the new Libraries & Cultural Services Strategy was signed off by Surrey County Council’s Cabinet.  On completion, the Staines Hub will be a state-of-the-art modern library and Community Hub, a dynamic place for the whole community to visit.  The library will be enhanced with a range of high-tech equipment to support a new programme of events and activities and the flexible space will allow it to host events for up to 100 people.

An inclusive, accessible and comfortable new space, with access to public toilets, the décor will be light and bright, making an exceptional space for residents and businesses alike. Feedback on the interior of the new library will be considered through an engaging co-design process later in the project.

There are many ways to give feedback to the current Pre-Planning Application proposals from 12 September:
