Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s recruitment video, produced in collaboration with the video production agency, LIQUONA, has won an award at the Recruitment Marketing Awards.
Judges for the award ceremony, which was held on 26 October, praised the video stating, “Excellent video really showcasing the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service – diverse yet original.”
The video was produced as part of SFRS’s 2022 recruitment campaign. The vision for the campaign was to break away from clichéd firefighting and rescue imagery but instead depict what the modern role really looks like. It also needed to appeal to people from under-represented groups, such as women or those from ethnic minorities.
The creative expertise of LIQUONA provided the perfect solution by using light-hearted humor to gently challenge stereotypes and provide more leeway to show other parts of the role.
Initially designed for social media, the video also featured on a TV advert. The campaign’s target was to attract 400 applications, but delivered almost three times that number of applicants. One in five applicants came from ethnic minorities and 7% of the applicants were women.
The award reaffirms the service’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
