Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer has cycled 31 miles on a static bike this week, to honour the 31 people killed on Surrey roads in 2022.
Dan Quin, Chief Fire Officer for the service and NFCC Road Safety and Road Rescue Lead has joined blue light colleagues and community members this week to make a stand against road death and injury. Those taking part are collectively running, cycling, walking or horse riding 1,766 miles – honouring the 1,766 people reported killed on UK roads in 2022.
Each mile completed is raising vital funds for RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, as well as helping to raise awareness about road safety.
Dan said: “I’m proud to have taken part in the RoadPeace Challenge. We have witnessed first-hand the devastating impact road incidents have on families who have lost loved ones. This initiative is a great opportunity for us to unite and support our shared Vision Zero for road deaths.”
