Redevelopment works to start at Lingfield Fire Station

Construction will soon start on Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s (SFRS) Lingfield Fire Station for essential redevelopment.

This project aims to modernise the station’s facilities, crewed by on-call staff, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

It will include:

  • Enhanced facilities for operational contaminants management and hygiene.
  • New gym facilities to support crews in maintaining their fitness.
  • A community space to allow for engagement with residents and partners.
  • A second fire and rescue vehicle bay, to better serve our communities.
  • Cleaner, greener and more sustainable designs.

The construction is scheduled to start before the end of summer. To facilitate this work, Lingfield Fire Station crew and fire engine will temporarily relocate to Oxted Fire Station this month.

Chief Fire Officer at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Dan Quin, said: “We are pleased to begin the necessary improvements to Lingfield Fire Station. This investment by Surrey County Council means we can enhance and update our facilities and better serve our communities.

“By temporarily relocating to Oxted Fire Station, we can maintain our services during the refurbishment of Lingfield.”

Kevin Deanus, Cabinet Member for Fire and Rescue, and Resilience said: “The redevelopment of Lingfield Fire Station is an important investment. I’d like to thank SFRS staff, residents and the community of Lingfield for their support with this piece of work.”

During this period of relocation, SFRS will continue to dispatch the nearest, quickest, and most appropriate fire engine to every incident to maintain response targets. Prevention work with residents and local businesses will continue. This will include Safe and Well Visits and visits to businesses to provide advice on how to stay safe from fire and other emergencies.

Lingfield Fire Station redevelopment project is funded by Surrey County Council and forms part of a broader investment in SFRS sites aimed at modernising facilities, enhancing community safety, and addressing both current and emerging risks.
