Redhill Library to reopen in Warwick Quadrant in summer 2025

Redhill library is set to re-open next summer in Warwick Quadrant, following a full refurbishment and works to address the Reinforced Autoclaved Concrete (RAAC) discovered in late 2024.

The works will ensure all the RAAC issues are resolved, and the full refurbishment will provide a bright, welcoming and modern library.

The newly refurbished library will include a vibrant children’s area with a sensory space and cosy reading corners.  Shelving on wheels will feature throughout to deliver a fully flexible layout, enabling a wide programme of events and activities.  Two flexible meeting rooms and a meeting pod will be created for the community and these can also be rented out to local business and groups.  There will be a public computer and study area with an extensive stock for all ages and interests, alongside a tea and coffee offer, comfortable seating areas and public toilets.

Super Access will also be available in the new Redhill library, allowing members to use the facilities for extended opening hours, including Sundays.

Temporary Move to The Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill in November

The current library is moving from its temporary space at Consort House, to the Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill in the heart of the town during November 2024.  It will remain there until it returns to Warwick Quadrant in summer 2025.

To enable the set up at the Belfry Shopping Centre, there will therefore be no access to Redhill library at Consort House from 5pm Saturday 9 November at Consort House until Monday 18 November, when it re-opens in The Belfry Shopping Centre at 9.30am.

The library in the Belfry Shopping Centre will offer a wide range of adult book stock, a full children’s library, study space and our regular events and activities.

Councillor Denise Turner-Stewart, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Customer and Communities said, Redhill’s library returning to Warwick Quadrant in Summer 2025 is great news indeed.  Redhill library was due to receive refurbishment as part of our transformation programme and this is still going ahead, so the library that opens next summer will be a place we can all be very proud of.

Our libraries are community hubs, you don’t have to be a member to come on in and use the wide range of facilities on offer.  You will find friendly and helpful library staff who can support you.  Our libraries are warm, safe spaces for all.”

Councillor Natalie Bramhall, Cabinet Member for Property, Infrastructure, and Waste said,Following the discovery of RAAC at the Redhill library site, our Land & Property team has been diligently investigating the issues and will be ensuring all necessary repairs are completed alongside the library’s refurbishment. We are making substantial investments in library buildings across the county, ensuring that residents can enjoy modern, accessible library services within their local communities.”
