There is less than one week to go until this year’s Surrey Youth Arts and Culture Festival arrives in Camberley!
On Friday 1 November and Saturday 2 November young people aged 11 – 18 years old from across Surrey are invited to take part in a range of arts activities and learn about opportunities in the extensive creative industry at this free event.
There are over 30 activities to try over the two days. From Djing and Coding to a Street Art Workshop and a Musical Theatre event, there are a wide range of demonstrations and the chance to have a go and even showcase your own talents!
The festival is supported by over 30 creative and cultural organisations, such as the National Film and Television, Royal Holloway University and the University of Creative Arts.
On Friday 1 November explore ‘Branding for Beginners’, with award winning brand agency Chaos Design. In this 1.5hr workshop, you’ll learn what a brand is and explore how it shapes perceptions and identities. You’ll also get hands-on experience in creating your own brand through a fun and interactive branding challenge.
On Saturday 2 November, join The Secret Stage School, and youth arts charity Peer Productions, for a fun filled workshop in singing, dancing and acting, followed by a short talk on how you can take the next steps towards a career in acting.
For aspiring musicians, both days include Open Mic opportunities, as well as plenty of drop-in creative activities, such as clay modelling, show boxes and more.
All young people attending the festival will receive a free goodie bag, as well as vouchers for food discounted meals.
Councillor Denise Turner-Stewart, Deputy Leader of Surrey County Council and Cabinet Member for Customer and Communities said, “This two-day festival in Camberley will be packed with hands-on creative opportunities for our young people to come along and try. We are delighted to be able to offer such a varied range of events and activities and would like to thank everyone involved in preparing for this, Surrey’s second Arts & Culture Youth Festival. We look forward to welcoming you to what we know will be a very popular event and hope that you will be able to be inspired to get involved and play your part in the rich arts, cultural and musical offer in our County.”
