Last chance to vote ahead of Stars in Surrey awards next week

Next week our amazing residents, organisations, volunteers and charities will come together for the third Surrey County Council annual Stars in Surrey awards, with the ceremony taking place on Tuesday 3 December at G Live in Guildford.

This highly anticipated event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the individuals and teams who go above and beyond in their daily lives to make a difference.

This year, there are 14 award categories which recognise a range of exceptional achievements by members of Surrey’s community.

Most of the award nominees have been selected by judging panels made up of a wide range of individuals within the council and you can still get involved by voting for The People’s Choice Award

The individuals shortlisted for this award category show a blend of extraordinary qualities. They embody Surrey County Council’s values and behaviours, caring about residents, valuing openness and working towards excellence. They also work collaboratively, respect others and care about making sure No One is Left Behind.

The five People’s Choice nominees are:

  • Collette – Supporting survivors of domestic abuse
  • Elaine Hinton – Children, Family and Lifelong Learning
  • Gerry Hughes – Children, Families and Lifelong Learning
  • Jane Gupta – Children, Families and Lifelong Learning
  • Autism by Experience, Local Surrey Organisation

When asked about their nomination, Autism by Experience said:

As a team we are thrilled to be nominated for the Surrey County Council Star Awards. We have developed close working relationships with many Surrey County Council teams and always feel our input and experiences are sought after and valued.”

Talking about this year’s event, Leader of Surrey County Council, Tim Oliver, said: “I am so proud to say we are celebrating Surrey County Council staff, volunteers, and local organisations for the third year in a row at the Stars in Surrey awards. It is a real highlight of my year and a jewel in the crown for Surrey County Council.

I am grateful, honoured and indeed humbled by the hard work, dedication, and commitment of each and every one of the Stars in Surrey nominees, who are delivering these vital services and ensuring No One is Left Behind.  I encourage those of you who haven’t already, to vote for your People’s Choice winner as the deadline is approaching fast.”

Residents of Surrey are encouraged to follow Surrey County Council’s official social media channels for live updates and winner announcements on the night of the event.
