Two weeks ago, Stars in Surrey Awards 2024 lit up the evening at G Live on Tuesday 3 December with a celebration of extraordinary individuals and teams who go above and beyond to make Surrey a better place to live, work, and thrive. Organised by Surrey County Council (SCC), this event recognises the dedication, innovation, and tireless service of local heroes, staff, and community champions.
This year’s ceremony was sponsored by a host of generous partners including our VIP partners: Pick Everard, Gate One Consulting, Public Digital Holdings, Ringway, IMPOWER, Atkins Réalis, Concerto Parnters, Beard Construction, Macro, Milestone Infrastructure, Neilcott Construction, Connect2Surrey and 31ten Consulting.

The event featured a variety of categories that celebrated unique contributions. Among the standout winners were:
- The Make It Happen Community Star Award: The Lucy Rayner Foundation
- Championing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award: Alice Spencer, Children, Families and Lifelong Learning, Surrey County Council
- Greener Future Stars Award: Guildford Library of Things, Customer, Digital and Change, Surrey County Council
- The Unsung Hero Award: Lizzie Knight, Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnerships, Surrey County Council
- People’s Choice Award: Autism by Experience, Local Surrey Organisation
The evening was particularly poignant as Blair Parrott won the Star Volunteer Award for his work with Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online.
Speaking after winning the Star Volunteer Award, Blair Parrott, said: “The night really showcased the great people in Surrey, doing some amazing work. I’m so fortunate to work in the Communities and Prevention Team, this has led to us having a real impact on the work around men’s mental health in Surrey, Our motto it’s ok to talk and stronger together really matters.”
Speaking on the event, Surrey County Council CEO Terence Herbert said: “People of Local Government do an unheralded and unsung job, it’s important for us to celebrate the success and show how much staff are valued here in the Organisation. Stars in Surrey provides a platform to celebrate not only our staff but also the individuals and community groups within the county who go above and beyond to ensure that No One is Left Behind.”
The Lucy Rayner Foundation, winners of the Make It Happen Community Star Award, added: “So happy that we won this award. This is for the community, this is for what we stand for. This is about mental health for young people in the community.”
The 2024 awards demonstrated that Surrey’s spirit of collaboration, empathy, and excellence remains strong. Each story highlighted how collective effort can bring meaningful change, and we are proud to have celebrated our amazing community.
