School Crossing Patrol Officer, Susan Rodger, has received the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her services to the community in Thames Ditton.
Sue has been a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Hinchley Wood Primary School since 2008, where she also previously set up a walking bus route and successfully campaigned for a school crossing.
The award also recognised Sue’s wider contribution to the community as a Brownie Leader in Hinchley Wood since 2006, and her work supporting Guides and Scouts in the area.
Commenting on her BEM, Susan Rodger said: “I feel very humbled to receive this award. Through my volunteering and School Crossing patrol duties I have met lots of wonderful children and families who make Thames Ditton and Hinchley Wood a lovely place to live.”
Tim Oliver, Leader of Surrey County Council, said: “I’m delighted that Susan’s valuable contributions to the community have been acknowledged.”
