Surrey County Council will open its Highways depot doors to the public for the first time at their open day this Saturday 14 June 2025.
Surrey residents are invited to the County Council’s highways depot in Merrow, to get behind the scenes of one of the county’s busiest services which works round the clock to keep Surrey’s roads safe and moving.
The open day is an opportunity to explore the latest projects and plans, in addition to seeing the vehicles, machinery and equipment used. Residents can meet the team including those who have repaired over 100 miles of roads across Surrey*, ask any questions they might have and share ideas, while children can be kept occupied with games, set up mini roadworks on a giant play mat and climb aboard the vehicles.
When: Saturday 14 June 2025
Where: Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford, GU4 7BQ
Time: 11:30am – 5:30pm (Special Educational Needs from 10:30am – 11:30am)
Matt Furniss, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth, said:
“I’d encourage residents to come and explore the depot and vehicles as well as find out about what we’re investing in, such as the £300m we have allocated to repairing and improving Surrey’s roads and pavements, details of future projects and to share any feedback you have. It’s a free day out for all the family and we hope to also inspire some young people to become the next generation of engineers.”
Visit the Surrey Highways Open Day webpage to find out more, including where to park.
