Stars in Surrey Awards 2025 – Celebrating Surrey’s shining stars

The Stars in Surrey 2025 awards, hosted by Surrey County Council, will take place on Wednesday 3 December 2025 at G Live, Guildford. 

Now in its fourth year, the Stars in Surrey Awards shine a spotlight on the extraordinary individuals and teams across Surrey who go above and beyond to make a positive difference in their communities. The awards recognise the contributions of council staff, residents, volunteers, charities, and partner organisations who are committed to ensuring that No One is Left Behind.

Now is your chance to help decide who will take home the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Stars in Surrey 2025. This special award celebrates individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond to make a real difference in our communities. 

We’re proud to announce the five outstanding finalists: 

Changing Futures Programme 

Led by Collette Le Van-Gilroy, Surrey’s Changing Futures Programme is a pioneering initiative supporting people facing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance misuse. With a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, the team empowers individuals through co-produced services, peer mentoring, and vital community connections. 

Cheryl Wood 

Cheryl Wood is a tireless advocate for Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller (GRT) communities across Surrey, offering compassionate, hands-on support that goes far beyond her role. Trusted and respected, she provides vital assistance with housing, health, and wellbeing, while also championing inclusion and cultural celebration through community events.  

Kathryn Jackson 

Kathryn Jackson is a compassionate and dedicated leader within Surrey’s Adult Social Care team, known for her unwavering commitment to supporting both residents and colleagues. As a Supervisor and Practice and Development Lead, she has transformed her team through inclusive leadership, innovative training, and a deep belief in the potential of others.  

Oscar Hoyle 

Oscar Hoyle is a passionate changemaker and founder of Blossom LGBT, a charity supporting over 14,000 LGBTQ+ young adults across Surrey. Driven by lived experience and a deep commitment to inclusion, Oscar has created safe, empowering spaces that foster connection, resilience, and opportunity. 

Placemaking Team and Youth Offer Team 

The Placemaking Team, with support from the Youth Offer Team, brought home a silver medal at the Hampton Court Garden Festival with their inspiring Show Garden. This creative project reimagined public space using Surrey’s Healthy Streets Design Code, showcasing sustainable, inclusive design and giving young people a platform to shine. 

Each of this year’s finalists has demonstrated outstanding commitment, compassion, and collaboration—truly embodying our organisational values and working tirelessly to support Surrey’s communities. Their remarkable contributions have left a lasting impact, helping to create a county where everyone feels supported, included, and proud to belong.
