Green light given to the last of 74 community projects to receive Your Fund Surrey Large Community Projects funding

Your Fund Surrey is marking a major milestone as Surrey County Council awards the final round of funding for its Large Community Projects Fund, paving the way for the next chapter of ambitious, community‑led transformation.

Over the last five years, 74 projects have been funded through the Large Community Projects Fund, totalling £26.8 million. This final £3.65 million allocation represents the culmination of half a decade of creativity, collaboration and local pride, helping residents turn bold ideas into meaningful community spaces. The large fund is now closed to applications.

These final projects showcase a lasting legacy of improved facilities, strengthened communities and new opportunities created across Surrey.

The final approved projects are:

  • Hurst Green Community Centre, Tandridge: Awarded £1,000,000 to support the redevelopment of Hurst Green Community Centre and creation of a fully accessible hub offering vital services, improved health outcomes and stronger community cohesion. The upgraded facilities, garden and hireable spaces will support local groups and give residents a welcoming place to connect, learn and thrive.
  • Coombe Common Pavilion, Waverley: Awarded £600,000 to support the construction of a new pavilion and improved recreation space. This will give young people, sports clubs and Scouts the dedicated facilities they’ve long lacked, encouraging greater participation in sport. As Chiddingfold continues to grow, the new community venue will support new activities to enable people to come together locally.
  • The Community Life Trust, Runnymede: Awarded £499,000 to restore the Kings Head building into a safe, welcoming base for a wide range of community services, from breastfeeding clinics to foodbanks and other support groups. The renewed space expands the provision for families, young people and community health practitioners.

An enhanced kitchen and event spaces will support wider community use and strengthen the village’s growing community spirit.
  • Peer Productions, Woking: Awarded £499,000 to support the creation of Peer Place, a new 6,000‑sq‑ft arts and community hub in Woking that will give the charity its first dedicated home, enabling major expansion of its youth arts offer. The accessible venue will provide creative opportunities for thousands of young people while enabling wider community involvement in cultural activities.
  • Woking Tigers, Woking: Awarded £135,000 towards a new 3G pitch in Sheerwater which will provide a reliable, all-weather training space for local clubs, schools and residents, increasing participation in physical activity.
  • Effingham Village Recreation Trust, Guildford: Awarded £499,900 to create a free, accessible outdoor recreation space featuring a multi-use games area, woodland trails and improved amenities, providing an inclusive outdoor community space for all to enjoy for improved health and wellbeing benefits.
  • Additional funding for Arbuthnot Hall, Waverley: Awarded an additional £200,000 to transform the existing hall into a vibrant and sustainable community hub. The project involves the construction of modern facilities, including low-carbon installations, changing rooms, a demountable stage for flexible use, and an improved internal layout designed to better serve the needs of residents.

Councillor Mark Nuti, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Customer and Communities said: “These final Large Community Projects through Your Fund Surrey show exactly what can be achieved when communities come together with ambition and a clear vision for their local area. Looking back at the past five years, it’s clear that Your Fund Surrey has helped communities achieve things that once felt out of reach. This programme has supported dozens of fantastic initiatives that create real, lasting benefits for residents, from modern community hubs to improved sports and cultural spaces.

This last round of funding will create a legacy of stronger, more connected and more resilient communities right across Surrey. I’m incredibly proud of what residents have achieved and excited to see these final projects come to life and see the benefits that will be felt for years to come.

I’d also encourage anyone with a smaller but equally important community idea to come forward now. Our Small Community Projects Fund remains for capital projects worth between £1,000 and £50,000 and is open until Friday 20 March 2026. It’s a great opportunity for residents to secure support for improvements that matter to them and their community.”
