Improving our roads

Ian Lake interviewed on BBC Breakfast

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment Ian Lake was interviewed on BBC Breakfast today about deterring metal road sign thieves.

The authority has been forced to install plastic road signs to foil the thieves, who are thought to steal metal versions for their scrap value. The plastic ones have no sell-on value.

Aluminum signs to vanish from Surrey roadsides include those featuring street names, chevrons and turn signs.
