Surrey County Council has won national recognition for making its accounts more open and accessible from a body dedicated to delivering improvement in public services
The authority won a bronze award in the progress through transparency category at the annual Improvement and Efficiency Awards.
It was recognised for the work done to ensure its accounts are open to public scrutiny on a quarterly basis.
Surrey County Council leader David Hodge said: “Our residents should be confident they are receiving value for money from the county council so it is only right that we make this financial information available to taxpayers on such a regular basis.”
The awards were organised by the national Improvement and Efficiency Social Enterprise* – known as IESE. For more information visit http://www.southeastiep.gov.uk/.
