Surrey’s music library is ‘excellent’

Surrey County Council has been given a prestigious award for the excellent work of its music library.

Based just outside Dorking, the music library was one of only eight public libraries in the country to receive the International Association of Music Libraries Excellence Award this year.

It is the second time Surrey has scooped the award.

Continuing the library’s success, senior librarian Peter Baxter has also just been elected as the president of the UK branch of the International Association of Music Libraries.

For interviews with Peter Baxter or Helyn Clack the Cabinet Member with responsibility for libraries or for more information media should contact Jacob Leverett in Surrey County Council’s Media Relations Team on 0208 541 9419 or email
