Jonathan Tiernan-Locke declared Surrey deserves to host the Tour of Britain again next year after huge crowds roared him to victory.
Surrey County Council announced it had agreed to host a stage of the event for the second successive year after Tiernan-Locke sealed his win in the final leg of this year’s eight-day race, from Reigate to Guildford.
Tiernan-Locke also paid tribute to the spectators who gave him and stage winner Mark Cavendish their support along the 90-plus miles of the race route.
