Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Davey has backed Surrey County Council’s scheme to help people cut the cost of their energy bills.
Mr Davey’s support came as the number of people registering for the authority’s switch and save initiative topped 2,700.
People can register online until 25 February by providing contact details, the name of their supplier and details of their current energy usage and tariff.
The website can be found at www.surreyswitchandsave.org. Alternatively, call 0800 048 8264 to join. The scheme works by getting a group of people to buy their energy together at an auction with suppliers.
