Please find below a report of the Centre Parcs badminton county finals from the P&G Surrey School Games team.
More than 100 children took part in the Centre Parcs badminton county finals as part of the 2013 P&G Surrey School Games, on the 12 February at Guildford Spectrum.
The youngsters qualified through previous rounds to reach the county final where competition was extremely tough.
The boys’ competitions were keenly contested, particularly between Glyn School and Howard of Effingham School who both won gold in different sections of the contest competition. There were some outstanding doubles and singles matches where great badminton was displayed by all taking part.
The girls’ competitions were just as exciting with a mixture of independent and mainstream secondary schools reaching the county final stage.
The P&G Surrey School Games is currently in its third year. It is currently building on the success of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to encourage and inspire more young people to take part in sport and art competitions.
