Older people and carers will soon be able to get the lowdown on care, community and health matters on the go.
Surrey County Council is launching a mobile version of its Surrey Information Point website.
It will mean people can easily access local information, such as help at home, support for carers and social activities, on the move.
They will also be able to find out about services provided by a wide range of organisations, charities and community groups.
Surrey’s mobile site has been customised for smartphone users with a focus on simplicity and it is due to be launched later this month.
Sarah Mitchell, Surrey County Council’s Strategic Director for Adult Social Care, said: “We’re always ready to embrace innovation at the county council and this mobile site will help people get easy access to the information they need wherever they are.
“Whether they want some details on a care home, activities offered by a voluntary group or advice on benefits, it’ll all be there in a simple format perfect for viewing on a smartphone.”
The Surrey Information Point website can be found at http://www.surreyinformationpoint.org.uk. People can also call the adult social care helpline on 0300 200 1005.
In addition, kiosks will be set up at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, Spelthorne Borough Council’s offices in Staines and West Byfleet Health Centre to promote the sites.
