Golden girl Laura Trott today confirmed she will go for glory in an event being staged as part of a festival of cycling in London and Surrey this summer.

Double Olympic gold medallist Trott heads the field for the first Prudential RideLondon Grand Prix on Saturday 3 August. She will be joined by fellow Games stars Dani King and Joanna Rowsell.

The cycling festival also sees the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 and Classic routes go through Surrey the following day.

Trott said: “It’s the perfect way to celebrate one year on from the Olympic Games in an amazing weekend of cycling in London and Surrey. I can’t wait to be part of it. Bring it on!”

Surrey Leader David Hodge said: “Both Box Hill and Big Ben will show off the very best of Britain when Surrey’s picture perfect countryside contrasts with London’s famous cityscape.”
