Surrey wins cash for more than 2,300 extra school places

Following the news that Surrey County Council has successfully won a share of £820 million to pay for more than 2,300 extra school places, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning Linda Kemeny said:

“This is welcome news and we’re pleased the government was persuaded by our case. We have experienced a big rise in demand for places at our excellent schools and this surge is continuing, which is why we have embarked on Surrey’s biggest ever expansion programme to create the 16,000 places we need to find to ensure every child gets the best possible education.”

Schools Minister David Laws today named 14 schools in Surrey that will benefit by 2015 in a written statement to Parliament. A full list of the Surrey schools can be found by following this link.
