Surrey and London’s roads could be the springboard to launch the next Laura Trott – according to the golden girl of last summer’s Olympics cycling.
In an interview with Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member Helyn Clack, Laura Trott spoke of her hope that the Prudential RideLondon event will unearth a cyclist with the potential to emulate her feats at last year’s London Games.
And the double gold medallist talked about Joanna Rowsell’s love of cycling in the Surrey Hills. Her GB track cycling team-mate has confirmed she will be participating in the event for 20,000 amateurs on Sunday August 4.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 event starts and finishes in the capital and also heads through parts of Surrey. It will be followed by a race for the world’s best cyclists.
Helyn Clack said: “Laura has no doubt inspired many people to get on their bikes for this gruelling 100-mile challenge and maybe it will spur one of them to emulate her Olympic exploits.”
To ensure people have all the information they need to make the most of the events and prepare for any disruption, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey leaflets have been sent to residents and businesses on the route. They include maps of the route and details of road closures. The leaflet can be viewed by following this link.
