Crews extinguish blaze in West Molesey

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service tackled a blaze in Spurfield, West Molesey today, involving three terraced houses. 
The fire, which was reported at 1.23pm today [Friday 6 September], started in the middle house and spread to the two adjacent homes, with a car also alight.

Eight Surrey fire engines (from Walton, Sunbury, Esher, Chertsey, Painshill, Guildford, Leatherhead and Staines fire stations), together with two from London (Twickenham and Surbiton) and around 40 fire fighters dealt with the fire, which ended just before 4pm.

A man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. All other people were accounted for.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear. Fire investigation officers are on the scene.
