Community groups win cash to help people with dementia

Age UK has thanked Surrey County Council after receiving £4,000 from an innovation fund launched to help community groups make life better for people with dementia.

The charity was among 14 groups to win money from the council’s £55,000 pot of cash to help those with the condition remain active and independent in their local areas.

Runnymede and Spelthorne deputy chief officer Di Cheeseman said Age UK will use the money to help boost the confidence of people with dementia.

Among the other groups awarded cash were Farnham Maltings, Tandridge Voluntary Service Council and the Lightbox, Woking. The winners were announced by Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care Mel Few at the Surrey dementia conference. Follow this link for the full list.
