Deadline approaches for primary school applications
Time is running out for parents to apply for infant, junior or primary school places for children who are due to start school or transfer to year 3 in September 2014.
Applications need to be made by Wednesday 15 January. Parents who miss this deadline reduce their chances of getting one of their preferred schools because their forms will not be dealt with until after all the other applications have been processed.
The easiest and quickest way to apply is online at surreycc.gov.uk/admissions until midnight on 15 January.
By applying online parents can find useful information about schools. Scanned or electronic documents to support applications can be easily attached and changes made to the application form right up to the deadline. Offers of a school place can also be accepted or declined online.
Paper forms can also be obtained by emailing email@example.com or calling 0300 200 1015. All applications will be treated equally regardless of whether they are done on paper or online. Parents who apply online will be able to view the outcome of their application for an offer of a primary school place on 16 April 2014. Parents who apply on paper will be sent a letter by first-class post on 16 April 2014.
Surrey County Council named as top performer
Surrey County Council has been named the top performing county council in England for its work last year managing public rights of way.
The public’s satisfaction has risen to the highest in the country following successful work by the council’s countryside access team to team up with volunteers and parish councils, improve local path signs and create better web-based information.
The National Highways and Transportation survey was carried out by leading UK research company Ipsos MORI.
