Surrey Fire and Rescue Service appeal for scrap cars
Firefighters are appealing for old cars to help them practice rescuing people from crashes.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service needs scrap vehicles to use in training for dealing with collisions on the road.
The service needs around 30 cars and is willing to arrange free collection from anywhere in Surrey or on its border.
Anyone with a scrap car they would like to donate should call fire headquarters on 01737 242444.
Surrey youth with RAF central band at Guildford
A leading military band staged a concert with talented young Surrey musicians.
The Central Band of the Royal Air Force performed alongside Surrey County Youth Wind Orchestra on Sunday (11 May) in Guildford.
The charity concert, featuring music by Ron Goodwin, Gustav Holst, Philip Sparke, Leroy Anderson and John Barry, was organised by Surrey Arts, which is part of Surrey County Council.
Free childcare for 1,000 more Surrey children
An extra 1,000 Surrey two-year-olds can receive 15 hours of free childcare, with households earning less than £16,190 now qualifying.
The FEET (Free Early Education for Two Year Olds) places are available at schools, children’s centres, pre-schools, nurseries and with FEET-registered childminders. Use the service finder to get more details.
