Scores of volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep Surrey residents safe during last winter’s floods have been thanked by Surrey’s Lord-Lieutenant Dame Sarah Goad and Surrey County Council Chairman David Munro.
Mr Munro said: “From 4×4 vehicle drivers to those who assisted in relief centres and worked for the Red Cross, all the volunteers did a fantastic job of helping Surrey get back on its feet and it’s a real privilege to be able to offer my heartfelt thanks.
“Our long-term flooding focus is now on prevention, which is why we’re working with Government on plans to protect Surrey residents in future.”
