Firefighters were today called to deal with a large fire in an industrial building.

Around 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at Renshaw Industrial Estate, Mill Lane, Staines after being called to the fire shortly after midnight.

At the fire’s height, 20 engines from four fire services fought the flames.

Currently there are six fire engines, several specialist vehicles and officers at the scene.

As a precautionary measure around 40 residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated, but have since been allowed to return to their homes.

Several roads near the fire are still closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is asking local residents to keep doors and windows closed as a precautionary measure.

Fire crews have been working alongside police, ambulance, local authority, Environment Agency, local utility companies and the Red Cross to deal with the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pictures from the scene are available here.
