More than £10 million was raised for charity by riders participating in August’s mass participation RideLondon event through Surrey.
Some 20,000 cyclists braved the wind and rain to complete the ride and raise £3m more for good causes than in 2013’s inaugural event.
Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services Helyn Clack said: “This is absolutely fantastic news.
“Not only did thousands of cyclists defy everything the appalling weather threw at them, they also turned pedal power into a record-breaking sum for good causes in Surrey and the rest of the country.
“I’m sure that the charities benefitting from their amazing efforts will join me in saying a big thank you.”
More information can be found in a press release on the RideLondon website.
