Plans for 420 extra school places at two Surrey primary schools have been signed off.
Classroom capacity at Sayes Court in Addlestone and The Hythe, Egham, will be boosted by 210 places each under proposals approved by the Cabinet.
Linda Kemeny, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said: “Surrey needs to find 13,000 places over the next five years and these planned expansions form part of that.
“We’re facing a £215 million shortfall to meet this unprecedented demand and with the county’s taxpayers contributing £6 billion to the national coffers every year while getting less than a billion back in funding for services, it’s time Whitehall gave Surrey’s schools a fairer deal.”
