Surrey County Council has set a goal of saving nearly £170,000 every day for a year.
The authority has revealed plans to save local taxpayers £62 million in the next financial year.
Since 2010 the council has made efficiencies totalling £260m and is on track to achieve almost £70m more in 2014/15.
