Karan Persand wins county council by-election

Conservative Karan Persand has won the Surrey County Council by-election for the Epsom West Division.

He was elected as the county councillor after securing 612 votes – 21 more than nearest rival Neil Dallen (Residents Associations of Epsom and Ewell).

The by-election was called after Stella Lallement stood down.

Kate Chinn (Labour Party) 578

Chris Crook (Green Party) 58

Neil Dallen (Residents Associations of Epsom and Ewell) 591

Robert Leach (UK Independence Party (UKIP) 168

Julie Morris (Liberal Democrat) 588

Karan Persand (Local Conservatives) 612
