Denise Turner-Stewart wins county council by-election

Conservative Denise Turner-Stewart has won the Surrey County Council by-election for the Staines South and Ashford West Division.

She was elected as the county councillor after securing 1,585 votes – 890 more than nearest rival Peter Appleford (UK Independence Party (UKIP).

The by-election was called after Daniel Jenkins (UK Independence Party (UKIP) stood down.

Matthew Clarke (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition) 33

Andrew McLuskey (Green Party) 145

Iain Raymond (Labour Party) 543
