ROUND UP: Free training courses for voluntary groups; Fostering events in Surrey

Free training courses for voluntary groups

More than 5,700 voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS) groups are being offered training courses by Surrey County Council.

The courses, which are also run by the authority for its own staff, are a mixture of e-learning and classroom based activities and help the VCFS deliver even more support to Surrey’s vulnerable residents while making best use of the council’s resources.

Courses on offer include first aid, finance, food hygiene, management and procurement among others.

For more information to find out what’s on offer and how you can take part, visit the Surrey Skills Academy website.

Fostering events in Surrey

Potential foster carers can find out more about the role at a series of events being held by Surrey County Council.

The drop-in mornings, which will take place at cafes across the county over the next few months, will see people who foster, children they look after and care leavers talk about their experiences.

People do not need to book in advance and can drop in between 9.30am and 11am. For a list of venues and dates visit the county council website.
