Time running out to register to vote

Residents across Surrey are reminded that time is running out to make sure they are on the register to vote in next month’s Surrey County Council elections.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday 4 May to have their say on who will fill the 81 seats available on the council.

To be able to vote residents must be on the Electoral Register and can make sure their name is on the list by visiting the government’s website before the deadline on Thursday 13 April.

A full list of the candidates contesting the elections by division was released on the authority’s website last week.

David McNulty, the county returning officer and chief executive of Surrey County Council, said: “I’d urge all residents to make sure they are on the Electoral Register so they get a chance to have their say on 4 May. These elections only come around once every four years and registering is simple so take the chance to get involved.”
